How To Make Plantain Bole With Roasted Fish In Nigeria

This is one food that is common among Nigerians but prepared differently across the nation depending on their peculiarity. I am confident that any one going into this business will make it big, because I know someone that is into this business and is doing very well; she sells from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9am and 3pm. Especially if you are in Lagos, look for a good location, a company premises or a place that is close to companies and organizations that is populated with people. So let’s go into details of how to prepare it.

Things needed to prepare it are:

Plantain / yam

Palm oil

Fresh fish (preferably mackerel also called shiny or kote)

Fresh tomato and pepper

Onions

Salt

Seasoning

Charcoal

Basin

Iron net

Method of preparation

Peel the yam / plantain

Wash the in water

Drain the water and salt it

Keep aside

Grind the tomato and pepper

Remove some of the grinded tomato and pepper

Add palm oil and salt to the tomato and pepper you removed

Clean up the fish and drain excess water

Put little salt in the fish

Season the fish with the tomato, pepper mixture

Prepare palm oil sauce using the remaining tomato and pepper

Put the charcoal in the basin

Light up the charcoal and make it very hot

Place the net on the basin

Place sliced yam or plantain the net to roast

Clean any dark part of the roasted yam/plantain with knife

Break in pieces

Put in plate

Add sauce

Serve with roasted fish

I suggested basin here because that is what is commonly used but you can buy a charcoal stand or you pay a welder to do it for you. To get the best and attract more customers you should always make sure your environment is clean, you can also buy take away packs and supply to people in their offices because some people don’t like eating outside.
